To launch Great Big Green Week in Leicester, Leicester Friends of the Earth will be having a street stall. We will be collecting photos of people with our new photo frame, to show that the people of Leicester are calling for action at the international climate talks happening in Glasgow in November. We’ll also be talking to people about how they can take action on climate change in their own lives.

Leicester Friends of the Earth and The Race Equality Centre (TREC) have formed a partnership to fight racism and the climate emergency. We are working together to create a little garden at the Highfields Centre, where TREC are based, for the local community to enjoy. The first stage of creating this garden will be to do a litter pick, dig over the ground, install two raised beds, plant some spring bulbs and then put down a mulch (cardboard and woodchip). Why not come and help us?

At our September meeting, Leicester Friends of the Earth will be planning an event for the International Day of Action on COP26 (the international climate talks) on 6th November. We would love to work with other people and environmental groups in Leicester to make this happen! Bring your ideas and come to our meeting.

Climate Action is holding a silent vigil focussing on what the UK government should be doing to address the climate crisis in advance of November’s international climate talks (COP26). Everyone is welcome. Please wear black or white. Bring your friends!

Do you want to adapt/retrofit your home to reduce your carbon footprint and make it better able to cope with climate change? A couple of households in Leicester are opening their doors so you can see and talk with people about what they have done. Changes ranging from internal and external wall insulation, solar panels, external heat wave blinds and secondary glazing – along with lifestyle changes. This is your chance to ask questions and get inspired.
